Raise the flag!

Cristina De Ascentiis reveals the passion, craftsmanship and technology behind the flag production of Adria Bandiere, a company that celebrated 50 years on the market this year

They are proudly made in Italy, but all countries throughout the world have raised the outdoor and indoor flags and banners made by Adria Bandiere. The family-run company from the Romagna region, founded in 1973, has expanded its activities over the years, moving from the national tourism sector to the international nautical sector and on to the sports, advertising and promotional sectors. Its customers include major international brands, yachting and sports clubs, companies and institutions such as the European Union, the Ministries of the Interior and Defence and the American embassy. “Every single article” explains Cristina De Ascentiis, Adria Bandiere’s sales manager, “is created by combining artisan skills and passion with technological development, which make it possible to create a range of highly customised, original and high-quality products”.

The Cesenatico plant manufactures items for both large supplies and ordinary orders such as banners, standards, scarves, pennants, flagpoles and flagstones, but above all flags. They come in every size imaginable: ranging from 20 cm up to 15 X 30 metres, like the flag ordered by Gulf Industrial Service in the United Arab Emirates, which was delivered by air in a special container.

Constant research in the field of materials has led Adria Bandiere to use fine fabrics, such as silk and heavy satin for the production of representative flags, and also innovative fabrics, such as 100% polyester stamina: a certified technological fabric, which gives its best in outdoor use, with a high resistance to atmospheric agents (sun, wind, rain) and the guaranteed excellent colour and print quality (digital or screen-printed).

To us maximum quality” – De Ascentiis concluded – “is also synonymous with sustainability, a value we hold dear. We pay special attention to the printing inks, which are water-based and therefore non-polluting and non-toxic, as well as to the supports for the classic indoor flags, the flagpoles of which are now also available in paper or wood. With regard to fabrics, on the other hand, we also use recycled polyester from plastic bottles on request”.
