The new perspectives of sublimation

Luca Mancini, Managing Director of Gi-An, one of the leading companies for sublimation printing, tells us about current trends and lets us know which machine innovations will be available next year.

The promotional sector is reacting positively to this difficult moment the entire world is facing through a series of initiatives that were not only implemented during the second half of 2020, but were already started during the period of lockdown for the Covid-19 emergency. A concrete example is Gi-An, one of the leading companies for products and equipment for sublimation printing. We interviewed Luca Mancini, the managing director of the company.

«We didn’t stop, not even for a moment! We analysed the current situation, understood the critical issues and got straight to work». Says Mancini. «We did not react passively and were not subjected to the situation, it was quite the opposite! We immediately started to product large quantities of polyester masks with certification of the fabric, suitable for sublimation printing. Our diligence was rewarded, because we received the approval and thanks of our customers who we helped get through a very difficult period».

Many products are available from the catalogue and an infinite range of items can be customised. Gi-An however, in addition to making the masks, also placed great importance on another sector, that of sustainability. «The new items that were very successful were the water bottles and thermoses – continues Mancini -. The awareness campaign regarding the consumption of plastic is becoming increasingly effective and our customers are sensitive and pay attention to this aspect».
When we asked the managing director to tell us about the advantages of sublimation, he presented us with a list in a simple and clear manner: «First of all, we must say that sublimation makes it possible to customise high quality objects and items; not just generic accessories but also clothing, which is a sector that is continuing to grow. Plus, sublimation is a more flexible printing technique that does not require large investments».

Gi-An always observes the market from an overall perspective in order to meet requests in a professional manner. It was not by accident that recently the company concentrated on a growing number of requests for large sizes that permit over-all printing, such as blankets, beach blankets, t-shirts, wood and aluminium panels. In this way it is possible to set yourself apart and be profitable, especially for an efficient and well-equipped company like Gi-An.

Well established in the market today but always active in order to offer new products to the sector. «This year the Epson F 500 sublimation printer was put on the market – concludes Mancini – and many new products are planned for next year, such as the launch of the Epson F 3000 for direct printing on t-shirts, as well as a plotter intended for customers who order large sized productions with a particularly low cost».
