Charles III's coronation day brought embroidery into the spotlight

The 6 May was a memorable occasion and showcased ancient embroideries made of gold and silver thread, gleams of light decorating ceremonial clothes. Embroidery is extremely widespread in contemporary royal clothing, most of which are handmade over months of painstaking work. These clothes are then destined to enter the royal collections and museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London which has a vast Fashion Gallery, which has always been a source of inspiration for many stylists.

Contemporary embroideries reproduce both rich flora in soft colours (including the ever-present rose, clover and thistle) and symbols that are part of the ancient tradition of royal coats of arms, including the golden leopard, the rampant lion, the harp and the royal helmet.

These symbols were reproduced both in printed and embroidered format on thousands of items that made up the merchandising during the three-day celebration. To get an idea just visit the shop, full of offers.
