Basic focuses on logistics and sustainability

Thanks to the new hub in the Piacenza area, the company guarantees prompt delivery of the best-known brands of promotional textiles. Because, says founder Domenico Zappalà, 'the lower the expectation, the greater the competitiveness'

Leading multi-brand distributor of customised promotional clothing for work, leisure and sport, Basic offers a wide range of items from renowned brands - such as Fruit Of The Loom, Russell, Workteam, Jhk and Stedman - that guarantee quality raw materials, versatility, and respect for the environment and employees.

Today, the company, founded more than 25 years ago, displays innovation that enables it to enhance its service to its customers. This involves the creation of a new logistics hub in Grazzano Visconti, in the province of Piacenza, in addition to the one in Catania. A facility of over 8,000 square metres equipped with all the most advanced goods handling technology, enabling it to ship promptly throughout Italy and to some European countries (Malta, France and Croatia).

'In the post-pandemic period,' says Domenico Zappalà, founder and sole director of Basic - lead time was a distinctive indicator that allowed us to gain market share at a difficult time. Together with my team, I reflected on how our logistics area had a decisive impact on the value Basic delivers to customers. So in 2021, we decided to invest in the creation of a new logistics hub that would allow us to reduce delivery times and improve our stock management, at a time when transport was a focus of attention'. The new warehouse in Piacenza now provides ample storage space, and Basic is also investing in internal resources, logistics staff training and technology.

The breadth of Basic's offering goes hand in hand with a focus on market demands, which in the promotional world are constantly evolving. "Today," Zappalà emphasises, "we hold environmental sustainability issues in high regard, offering articles that are not only excellent value for money, but also made from recycled materials or certified organic cotton fabrics, produced in compliance with directives for reducing water and energy consumption.
