Beauty products, a question of labelling

In cosmetics packaging, in addition to aesthetic appeal, we must also pay attention to providing accurate instructions for use

When considering beauty products contained in large or small bottles, the packaging for mascara, lipsticks, eye shadows, creams and perfumes, we rightly focus on bold graphics capable of most effectively conveying the product's message However, one must also take into account the importance of consumer information for which space on the packaging is often very limited and for which very small fonts need to be used The definition of print then becomes essential. Pad printing and screen printing are two processing methods that guarantee excellent results on a variety of media, both in terms of shapes and materials, but require the preparation of printing plates and are therefore suitable for large productions.

There are interesting 'leaner' printing alternatives, suitable for numerically smaller jobs. For example, packaging surfaces can be embellished via laser engraving, using galvanometric equipment with UV or Co2 sources that guarantee accuracy of up to one hundredth of a millimetre. Among the many proposals from Lasermake the Lm-M500-Dsk 50 is capable of operating on a wide variety of media and, thanks to the Rotary attachment, can also machine cylindrical objects.

Another system that can be used in this field is Dtf Uv printing, a technique which allows stickers to be attached to any object, also with a glossy 3d effect if desired: the Uvr A3 printer marketed by Embroidery Service has just the right features to create labels to be applied on the bottles of the materials most commonly used in the beauty sector, from plastic to glass and also cardboard packaging. A colour laser printer can also perform a similar service, lowering production costs and reducing the number of steps. Awservice offers the Oki Color 650 Dn A4 LED model combined with a Silhouette Cameo 4 cross-cut plotter using adhesive polyester sheets. Finally, should the work become more demanding, we can turn to Modico which, with the PeriQ360, offers a 4-place UV direct rotary printing system that works across the entire surface without interruption and at maximum speed.
