Gadgets, success is serial

Merchandising the most watched TV series is not only popular among viewers, but it is also a profitable strategy and source of brand awareness for streaming platforms

“We offer our audience the opportunity to take home a piece of their favourite series”. You can read these words on the Netflix website, one of the world's most popular streaming services, which in recent years has expanded its business through the sale of gadgets dedicated to the most successful TV series. From 'Money Heist' to 'Stranger Things', from 'Lupin' to 'Wednesday' (the series inspired by the characters of the Addams Family), the variety of merchandising items available in the online store - which in the US are also on sale inside Walmart supermarkets in Netflix-branded corners - evolves according to the new releases to meet the taste of viewers. Season after season, as the audience becomes passionate about characters and their stories, its appreciation determines the continuation and survival of the series itself.

Even the purchase of customised gadgets, such as action figures, mugs, sweatshirts and tech accessories related to these 'sagas, becomes a way to support your favourite series as well as to relive their memories and atmospheres in everyday life. Several objects can be perfectly customized for this type of merchandising. We will highlight some of them that focus on the sustainability of materials: the foldable Bluetooth headphones designed by Gadget48 are made of wheat straw plastic with faux leather ear pads and are equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery, 3.5 mm audio jack connector and speakerphone calling function. Also the power bank 'Dudùu Xs' by Switch On Power Eood is eco-friendly. It is rechargeable, therefore reusable, compatible with any device, available in different colours and with various charging plugs to choose from. Its cover, which can be fully customized, is made of biodegradable material derived from maize. Conversely, the 'Straw Pen' by Arti Grafiche Macaluso (Agm), a ball pen with a natural push mechanism, is made of wheat fibre and Abs plastic, and is available in natural shades. The materials are certified as environmentally friendly through laboratory tests conducted by the company Sgs. The barrel of the pen can be customised with single-colour pad printing or multi-colour direct digital printing.
